Rebecca Carmi

Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Cantor Rebecca Carmi has a Bachelor of Comparative Literature from Brown University and a Master of Music in Voice Performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music.

In May of 1993 she received a Master of Sacred Music from the Hebrew Union College School of Sacred Music and was invested as Cantor. She is a two time graduate of Outward Bound courses, has studied family counseling and is currently studying for a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Change. A member of both the American Conference of Cantors and the Cantors Assembly, Cantor Carmi served as a full time Cantor in pulpits in New York, New Jersey, California and Ohio, and has more recently served as High Holiday Cantor for many prominent pulpits.

Cantor Carmi has been a featured soloist with the Cantors Assembly and the American Conference of Cantors and has appeared in Cantorial concerts throughout the West Coast, New York, New Jersey and Canada, including performances at the Jerusalem Theater with the Jerusalem Symphony and at Carnegie Hall. She also has been on the faculty of the Academy for Jewish Religion in New York City and serves on the Executive Council of the Cantors Assembly. She has recently appeared in Jewish Festivals in Krakow, Poland and Vienna, Austria, and continues to participate in concerts of Jewish Music throughout the United States and is a roster artist in Access
to the Arts in Cleveland.

Cantor Carmi currently works for the Cantors Assembly as their Director of Strategic Projects. She is a former Jerusalem Post book reviewer, an award-winning science fiction author, and a children's book writer. She resides in Tel Aviv, Israel and in Beachwood, Ohio.
